Methods of Payment
About
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is committed to providing you with the best possible oral health care. Your clear understanding of our financial policy is important to our professional relationship.
Ohio State Dental Clinics
Ohio State Dental Clinic patients are responsible for payment in full at the time of treatment.
Payment Options
- Cash, check (established patients only), Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover (including Flexible Spending credit cards).
- Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending (FSA) benefit cards and checks are also accepted.
- Care Credit: For those patients who qualify and prefer to extend payments beyond the conclusion of treatment, we are pleased to offer Care Credit – the American Dental Association approved commercial revolving line of credit specifically designed for the payment of dental care. To learn more about this option, please visit carecredit.com or contact our Patient Financial Services Department for terms and conditions.
Insurance
Patients with Delta Dental including Ohio State faculty, staff and students, are only required to pay estimated co-payments and deductibles. We also accept the following state-sponsored insurance plans: Medicaid, CareSource, Molina, United Healthcare Community Plan, My Care Aetna, and Paramount. With these plans, required co-pays are due at the time of service and payment in full for non-covered services. Patients with other insurance carriers who have out-of-network benefits will pay in full, and we will submit a claim to your carrier asking them to reimburse you. Please note that traditional Medicare does not have dental coverage. We do not accept Medicare, and we are unable to submit a claim on your behalf.
Payment exceptions
Payment exceptions can possibly be made for patients with extensive treatment plans; with most plans we can request a predetermination, after written results are returned by the insurance carrier the patients can pay only their estimated co-pays and deductibles up front. Predeterminations typically take 6-12 weeks and are not a guarantee of payment. Once treatment is complete and the claim is filed any outstanding balance not covered by the insurance carrier is the patients responsibility and due immediately.
